We also provide food to those that had previously obtained necessary items at their Senior Center. But now that they’re closed are vital to the wellness of the community and senior population with our Food Bank program and Free Farmers Market Food Give-Aways.
The obvious challenge is firstly, THE WILL and DESIRE to address the needs of this segment of society! Then the allocated resources, including PEOPLE! One thing we’ve expierenced is a capacity challenge in terms of direct field workers whom have direct, first hand contact with those in need and followed by staffing. We have to ensure client safety as well as the safety of the food handlers, distributors, and drivers, so the food and meals are placed on tables, in boxes, at “doorsteps” and not handed to clients directly. We had a shortage before, and so scaling that is difficult to provide safer options during the COVID-19 pandemic, as most of these folks are already isolated in their prefered encampment but needs to serve three critical public health purposes:
1) Prioritize individuals experiencing homelessness who are asymptomatic, but are at high risk, such as people over 65 or who have certain underlying health conditions, and address their needs where they can more safely self-isolate even if it’s in their prefered encampment;
2) Provide isolation capacity, even in their prefered encampment, for individuals experiencing homelessness who have been exposed to COVID-19 (as documented by a state or local public health official, or medical health professional) that do not require hospitalization, but need isolation or quarantine even if in their prefered encampment; and
3) Provide isolation capacity for individuals experiencing homelessness who are COVID-19 positive, but who don’t need hospitalization. Their only choice is to return to a less regulated congregate shelter setting or back to their prefered encampment– both of which would lead to further spread of COVID-19.
Our team members, and the people we serve are of different race, faith, culture, age, gender, sexual orientation and income levels. AMWF by providing direct services, including providing nutritious food; edvocating for and participating in many relevant social service programs that promote the self-sufficiency of people in need; educating the general public about these issues, their causes and this partial solution while inspiring a consummate social conscience and honoring the dignity of every person. As part of that principal mission, AMWF works for basic economic survival security for all and the elimination of poverty by providing these services thus effecting societal and governmental policies that regulate the less fortunate to the bottom of the economic, social, health, and opportunity pyramid, with full understanding that any policy which affects the poorest of us affects all of us.
We provide essential services to many inter-faith based organizations with the aim of bettering the condition of the less fortunate. In that spirit of outreach, we have supplied many Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Disabled, Unabled, multi-cultural, inter-faith based businesses and organizations with staples that are in turn distributed to the public, and these events are NOT only fundraisers, BUT MOST are totally free to the public, there is no charge for anything to anyone.
AMWF features high-performing results in the invaluable areas of: youth development; elementary, secondary and college education; poverty alleviation; mental and physical health medical services; social services, as well as other economic-empowerment programs for individuals, families; and small businesses.
AMWF has forged an awareness and sustained an effort to connect those in dire need with service providers, donors, volunteers and nonprofit groups with these causes. We have taken community foundations and moved into social networking, reaching beyond static “bricks and mortar” to interactive Web sites to serve as a “dynamic virtual clearinghouses or town square” that holds conversations between those in NEED and their local charities, citizens, donors, and volunteers.
WE ARE and HAVE BEEN since 1970’s a Furtile Oasis in a Barren Food Desert serving those MOST in NEED!
FaceBook Fundrazr AMWF has a 100% donation policy, and we are transparent about how we use donations. May Allah (swt) bless you for your Zakat, Sadaqah and Sadaqah Jariya donations, iA!

AMEL LARRIEUX, Former lead singer of Groove Theory
Ice Cream Every Day (Blisslife Records), Amel’s upcoming fourth solo album, is slated for release in 2013.
An urban chanteuse by birth, Amel Larrieux grew up in a West Village “artists building” in New York City, her parents exposing her early to a community of artists and artistic experiences that would mold her eclectic sensibilities. At the age of 18, sure that she wanted to express herself musically, Amel wrote and demoed a song, which led to her pairing with Bryce Wilson to form the duo Groove Theory. As lead vocalist and co-writer for the group, she enjoyed success with “Tell Me,” which broke the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and the top five on the R&B charts before being certified gold in October 1995.
Morning (Blisslife Records/2006) was Amel’s third solo album. She used it as an opportunity to explore the endless range of promise and potential—as well as the disappointments—in being human. “Weary,” the first single from this album, was inspired by a friend’s experience and was composed for independent people who long for someone with whom they can share life’s trials and tribulations.
Flying high with a Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals Grammy nomination for her work on Stanley Clarke’s “Where is The Love,” Amel Larrieux stretched her wings in Bravebird (Blisslife Records/2004), her second solo work, rising courageously into atmosphere untouched by her contemporaries. The ballad “For Real” pulses with the beat of early Prince, offering a classic, unabashed ode to the human heart. In “Bravebird,” Amel mourns female circumcision by describing a fearless victim who fled her native Somalia for the U.S.
In her solo debut, Infinite Possibilities (Epic Records/2000), Amel fuses a range of genres – R&B, soul, hip-hop, jazz and folk, with flashes of Middle Eastern, West African, and Indian styles. Its single “Get Up” is an ode to working people that became a modern anthem and magnet for the growing legion of Amel’s fans.
Amel has contributed to film soundtracks, writing and singing in such films as Barbershop, Love Jones, Down To Earth, Sunset Park, Takers, and Why Did I Get Married?.
Equal to Amel’s vocal and writing talent is her alluring beauty and eclectic style. She has been spotlighted as a style maven in Essence, Honey, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Lucky Magazine,Trace, The Fader and other magazines and was also featured in the Coach anniversary print campaign. More recently her vocal talent and beauty have been central to Coca-Cola’s “Keep It Real” campaign in television, radio and print ads. She is also a trained dancer and a dedicated yoga enthusiast.
She is happily married to manager, producer and musical collaborator Laru Larrieux and they are the proud parents of two girls, Sanji-Rei and Sky.
Actor and Comedian Sinbad arrived on the comedy scene with a “ hit’em in the face” style of comedy that has kept audiences laughing in the aisles for over the past two decades. He freely admits that he doesn’t knows any jokes, except for the ones that his dad told him “back in the day”. Sinbad tells stories, and boy does he tell stories! The basis of his humor comes from everyone he’s met, everything he’s seen, and everything he’s done.
Ranked by Comedy Central as one of the top 100 standup comedians of all time, Sinbad has built a loyal following by taking audiences’ painful trials or embarassing tribulations of day-by-day life, throwing them back in their faces, and causing an uproar of comedic hysteria. He can also make it sound profound without being profane. Not that he’s any kind of choirboy, but by being the son of a preacher man he decided to keep his comedy clean after his father attended one of his early performances. Up to that time he had been what he describes himself as ”semi-dirty”. Sinbad says that he learned that night that “funny is funny”, and that masters of dirty comedy such as Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor and Lenny Bruce could all work clean without losing a step.
Sinbad is internationally known for his starring appearances in hit movies like “Jingle All the Way,” playing opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger; “Houseguest” co-starring the late Phil Hartman, and let’s not forget his film debut “Necessary Roughness”, where he did none of his own stunts! He has starred in the television sitcom “A Different World” as well as his own series, “The Sinbad Show”. Entertainment mogul Quincy Jones sought out Sinbad to host UPN’s first late night talk show, “Vibe”. He also recently appeared as a recurring guest star on the Showtime Original Series “Resurrection Blvd.” Sinbad has even written a self-help book entitled “Sinbad’s Guide to Life: (Because I Know Everything)”. Sinbad has drawn legions of fans from his HBO highly-rated comedy specials; “Brain Damaged” (1991), “Afros & Bellbottoms” (1993), “Son of a Preacher Man” (1996), and “Nuthin But The Funk” (1998). His annual HBO music concert series (Oh! You didn’t know he was musical?) “Sinbad’s 70’s Soul Music Festival” received the prestigious NAACP Image Award consecutively for two years as the “Most Outstanding Variety Series/Special”.
A one-time basketball standout for the University of Denver, Sinbad agrees that everything he needed to know for comedy, he learned from playing basketball. There are a number of things comedy and basketball have in common. One of the most important to Sinbad is “the competitive aspect that teaches you to never give up”. Now there is one part of Sinbad’s life that has been a well kept secret…he is a closet nerd. This comes in handy as a Master of Technology during private corporate engagements for clients such as: Intel Corporation, Breakaway Technologies, Apple and Microsoft as well as many others.
As an intermediary to community focused technology solutions, Sinbad believes no one should be left behind in training and education. He has served as a spokesperson for the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME) encouraging minorities to pursue studies in science, math and engineering. In honor of his parents Donald & Louise Adkins, Sinbad has established an academic scholarship in their name at the esteemed Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. Showing his appreciation for our armed servicemen, the comedian/actor has participated on USO tours and performed at the USO of Hampton Roads 2006 Patriotic Festival.
Sinbad has appeared on the FX Television series “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” Also, his long awaited stand-up special aired on Comedy Central this past February. Most recently, Sinbad was seen in the third season of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice.
Tony! Toni! Toné crashed out of their Oakland neighborhood in 1988 with their Gold debut album Who? which spawned the hit “Little Walter”. In 1990, to both critical and popular acclaim, their second album The Revival garnered four # 1 Billboard hits including “Feels Good,” “Whatever You Want,” “The Blues” and “It Never Rains (In Southern California)” and went Platinum. The success of The Revival and subsequent headlining tour was realized during various awards shows: 1991 NAACP Image Award for “Vocal Group Of The Year”, 1991 American Music Award for “Favorite R&B/Soul Group” and ASCAP Award for “Feels Good”.
In 2006, D’Wayne Wiggins and Timothy Christian Riley regrouped along with their cousin, Amar Khalil (performing lead vocals) and have been touring the United States ever since, performing to sold-out audiences across the country. Tony! Toni! Toné’s much anticipated sixth album, due to be released later this year, features collaborations with Rhymefest, Beyonce Knowles, Keyshia Cole, and Slick Rick with the Grass Roots Production Team weighing in on this sure-to-go platinum effort.

The Weeknd is the stage name of the Ethiopian, Toronto-based R&B singer Abel Tesfaye. The Weeknd gained popularity in March 2011 after releasing his first album, House of Balloons. Prior to working with producers Illangelo and Doc McKinney, the artist was previously associated with the production team The Noise.
From the beginning however, The Weeknd has been supported by rapper Drake and his OVO crew. In fact, OVO crew member Oliver El-Khatib was the one who first played The Weeknd’s music to Drake, at which point he fell in love with the artist’s voice. Publicity created by Drake via his Twitter account ultimately led to The Weeknd’s initial popularity, and the singer has since exploded onto the music scene, having been featured in Rolling Stone magazine, MTV news, MuchMusic and more.
The Weeknd performed his first ever show at The Mod Club in Toronto on July 24, 2011. This is only the beginning for Abel. More info will be added as it comes. Until then, continue to support the XO gang… ’til we overdose.

New York, NY – October 13, 2012 -There is no denying that 2 Chainz is the hottest rapper in Hip Hop music, today. After a meteoric rise rarely seen in music, he has safely secured his spot on the top. His style and impact is quickly changing the landscape of music and you can’t help but hear a rendition of his infectious “2 Chaaainz”, or “ Tru” when ever his name is mentioned. It’s just me and them in an intimate setting, in a different city all over the country. We turn up and basically have a party in every city on stage. When the first half of the tour started the album had just dropped so I didn’t know what to expect. George Clinton is the legendary and internationally renowned grandfather of funk and the founder of the Parliament-Funkadelic MOB, taking the sonic innovations of James Brown and Sly Stone to both outer space AND Neptune while selling millions of records and concert tickets in the process. Quiet as its kept, however, George Clinton’s initial approach to the ladies was crooning (when he wasn’t cutting hair) as the leader of a standup vocal group he formed in `55 called The Parliaments, emulating the doo wop and love songs that were popular when he was in diapers.
What is there left for the North Cackalackee-born grandfather of funk to do after five decades of rockin’ steady on the one? He can dip back to an era of sweet street corner soul that was his initial inspiration, take some folks back into time while blowing their minds.
Almost 70 years-young, George Clinton has several other projects in the hopper, including a salute to Motown and a solo album by longtime P-Funk All-Star siren Belita Woods. The master is also mindful that most of the folks whose songs he’s singing on Radio Friendly are no longer here, but he has no intention of joining them in Soul Heaven anytime soon. “I ain’t going nowhere,” he declares. “I feel like I’m starting over right now…for real!”
While Maysa is no newcomer to the music scene, her ninth solo CD, Motions of Love (Shanachie Entertainment) that boasts cameos by the legendary Stevie Wonder and neo soul crooner Dwele, promises to introduce the veteran soul and smooth jazz vocalist to the widest audience of her career. She first gained fame as the featured voice on British acid jazz band Incognito’s defining `90s era hits such as “Don’t You Worry About A Thing,” “Still A Friend of Mine” and “Deep Waters.” She then launched a concurrent solo career with the hits “Am I Wrong (For Lovin’ You),” “Friendly Pressure” and “Hypnotic Love.” With a sultry alto on par with Phyllis Hyman and Patti Austin’s honeyed notes, Maysa should be one of the biggest names in the urban mainstream but instead she’s earned a loyal underground audience.

انّا للہ و انّا الیہ راجعون Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un) Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return…
I am sad to inform you that former Temptation lead singer Ali Ollie Woodson has died after a battle with cancer. He was 58 with a wife and two children. A friend, client and arguably the BEST SOUL R & B VOICE EVER, not only of the Temptations, but EVER!!
The best a cappella performance I have ever witnessed was the improv rifting he did at an appearance on the Arsenio Hall Show with Evander Holyfield and Hammer where Ali saaaaang during the entire commercial break that was soo incredible that Arsenio could not stop him when the show returned from break Arsenio let him continue into the show after the commercial break because the crowd was going totally bananas!! Arsenio let him continue to saaaang after the show resumed and we ALL just sat and listened mesmerised in complete amazement, wonder and joy, now Keep in mind that show had Evander Holyfield and Hammer as guest as Evander was preparing for a title fight!!!!! At the Stag Festival in Romania, he did a featured segment with the Temptations that is still being raved about where he continued to sing solo for 20 minutes while the others went to the dressing room and changed! You can listen to his music at http://www.aliolliewoodson.com/
He is, quite simply, the Voice. The name Ali Ollie Woodson may not be familiar to large numbers of readers, but to those in the Soul music business he is known as one of the greatest modern singers. In a career that spans 25 years, he has worked as lead singer for the Drifters and (the post-Teddy Pendergrass) Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. He has also served as guest vocalist on dozens of recordings of artists from Freda Payne to Paul Jackson, and as a backing vocalist for Whitney Houston, Rachelle Ferelle and Aretha Franklin. However, his true coming out was as the lead singer of the Temptations from 1984-1996.
Temptations fans consider the late 70s as perhaps the group’s darkest days, culminating with the departure of lead singer Dennis Edwards and the group’s ill-fated move to Atlantic Records. The group’s return to Motown in 1980 brought some commercial life (and Edwards) back to the group, but the continuing revolving door of group members and producers resulted in a series of mediocre albums. Then, when Edwards again quit the Tempts in 1984, the group called upon Woodson to take over lead vocals and former Earth Wind & Fire guitarist Al McKay to produce Truly for You. The result was the greatest Temptations album of the past 25 years, and a permanent place for Woodson alongside Edwards and David Ruffin in Temptations history. His gritty, expressive voice was the perfect contrast to the classically smooth Temptations’ harmonies, and his ability to delicately handle ballads gave the group a versatility it generally didn’t have during the Edwards years. Click here to watch a live performance in Japan with the Temptations of “Just My Imagination” and “My Girl” with just the accompanment of a piano! He also brought along songwriting skills, co-penning “Treat Her Like A Lady,” (click to watch video) the smash hit from that album. Watch the video of his performance of “Some Enchanted Evening” with the Temptations here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REW1qKnxjVY
Ali Ollie Woodson Testimony on TBN:
His work on the next year’s To Be Continued… was equally impressive, particularly the powerful ballad “Someone,” “Lady Soul” (click to watch video) perhaps Woodson’s finest recorded moment and “Special” (click to watch video), “Touch Me” (click to watch video) Oddly, Edwards rejoined the group, replacing Woodson in 1987 for Together Again, but was gone again within a year. Woodson then reassumed the lead vocals spot through a handful of lesser albums, as the group struggled to find a contemporary sound. Finally in 1995 the Temptations released For Lovers Only, a disc of covers of classic pop songs that brought renewed interest in the group.
By 1996, Woodson left the Temptations for good, and fans anticipated that a solo album would soon be on the horizon. Instead, he worked on a number of different projects, performing in a series of stage plays, providing backing vocals on several soul and jazz albums, touring with other former Temptations Damon Harris and Richard Street , and briefly forming a group with two former Supremes. Ultimately, he created the Emperors of Soul, a touring group covering Tempations’ and other Motown hits which has received positive reviews around the US .
It would be five years before Ralph Tee of Expansion Records would get Woodson back into the studio to record
Right Here All Along
Right Here All Along, Woodson’s long overdue first solo album. It was a solid disc, and received kudos in most Soul music publications, which especially raved over his version of the ballad “Turn Out the Stars” (also covered at around the same time by the Manhattans). It is available in the US through CD Baby.
“Lady Soul”
In 2002 Woodson was offered the lead vocalist position in the Spinners when poor health forced John Edwards to leave the group, but he instead recommended friend Frank Washington, who is now successfully fronting that group. Woodson has continued to tour with Emperors of Soul, and was most recently seen on national TV as Aretha Franklin’s dynamic duet partner on the Spring 2003 PBS concert special, “Rhythm, Soul & Love.” He also appeared on Juewett Bostick’s 2003 album It’s Not So Easy, singing “You Need Love.” Woodson later joined Dennis Edwards’ group, the Temptations Revue, ironically singing alongside the former Tempts member he replaced during his second stint with the mothership.
Never Give Up
Reports have come in in early 2009 that Woodson was ill. But by Spring of that year he had released his second album, Never Give Up, on his own Ollywood Records.
Ollie Woodson Farewell:

Showtime: 8pm & 10pm
John Handy is an alto saxophonist who plays the tenor, saxello, baritone, clarinet, oboe and vocals. He is actually a consummate world musician and teacher who devoted his life to using music to elevate the human spirit. His soulful and fiery saxophone style is instantly recognizable to generations of jazz fans world-wide.
As a performer and composer he continues to sweep audiences into ecstasy with his vast range of creative, emotional, and technical inventiveness. With a superb knowledge and practical experience with music of several cultures, he fuses, with each selection, a musical genre that is coherent, provocative, logical, and enjoyable.
Known most readily as a saxophonist in jazz quartet and quintet settings, John Handy is also featured in solo, duets, and large ensembles ranging in size from big bands to concert bands, symphony orchestras, vocal groups, and choirs.
As a singer, he brings a kind of storytelling narrative to the blues that is entertaining, educational, and moving; while his “up tempo” scat vocals could be compared to the best scat singers anywhere. He sings ballads with inventiveness that is rare among singers.
John Handy has performed in the world’s great concert halls including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Berlin Philharmonic Auditorium, San Francisco Opera House, Davies Hall; the major performance venues including Tanglewood, Saratoga (NY), and Wolf Trap; and the pre-eminent jazz festivals including the Monterey Jazz Festival, Newport Jazz Festival, Playboy Jazz Festival, Chicago Jazz Festival, Pacific Coast Jazz Festival; and international jazz festivals at Montreaux (Switzerland), Antibe (France), Berlin, (Germany) Cannes, (France) Yubari and Miyasaki (Japan) among others.
His album and CD covers read like a who’s who of record labels – Columbia, ABC Impulse, Warner Brothers, Milestone, Roulette, Boulevard, Quartet (Harbor), MPS Records and many others. His most recent recordings are “John Handy Live at Yoshi’s” and “John Handy’s Musical Dreamland” (available only on Boulevard Records, Stuttgart, Germany) “Centerpiece,” and “Excursion in Blue.” Some of his earlier works have been reissued on CD – “John Handy: Live at the Monterey Jazz Festival,” “The Second John Handy Album,” “New View,” and “Projections.” He recorded with Sonny Stitt, and recorded nine albums with Charles Mingus Jazz Workshop.
John Handy has taught at San Francisco State University, Stanford University, UC Berkeley, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, among others. He is a popular performer on university and college campuses where he also gives inspired lecture-demonstrations on the technical, academic, spiritual, and creative aspects of music, winning new converts to jazz.
John Handy has written a number of highly acclaimed, original compositions. “Spanish Lady” and “If Only We Knew” both earned Grammy nominations for performance and composition. The popular jazz/blues/funk vocal crossover hit, “Hard Work,” brought him fame in another realm; while “Blues for Louis Jordan” displayed his talents in rhythm and blues. His more extensive works include “Concerto for Jazz Soloist and Orchestra” which was premiered by the San Francisco Symphony; and “Scheme Number One” which was lauded as a fine example of fixed and improvised music by the great composer, Igor Stravinsky.
Although he is well known in the continental United States, John Handy has taken his music to Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, France, England, Sweden, Luxemburg, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, North and South India, Yugoslavia, Japan, Alaska, Canada, among other countries – all with great acclaim!
For the past 23 years, John has led John Handy WITH CLASS, featuring John Handy with three female violinists/vocalists in an unforgettable sound that captures the full range of jazz, blues, r&b, popular, and modal music. This innovative group creates a new musical expression which John refers to (tongue-in-cheek) as “Clazzical Jazz.” He continues to lead and perform in groups with a combination of instruments and vocals.

nowtruth@nowtruth.org;The Oakland Gang Injunction will pass because City Attorney John Russo has the support of ACLU whom has mobilized organizers to support, not fight it, to the peril of the Black Community!
This is nothing but another tool for developers to continue exercising gentrification of the Black Community unopposed because of the apathy and lack of leadership in defending our rights from the so-called Black leaders! Where is the National Action Network, NAACP, CORE, Rainbow Coalition, you or any other national group that alleges to stand for Civil Rights when we are being raped and “Okey Doaked” by the “white liberal” defenders of the public trust?
Every defendant “served”, and I use that term without any credibility under the legal process, with the unconstitutional injunction that has an attorney has been dropped from the matter! But those that are unrepresented are being “convicted” in a civil proceeding with criminal implications because they do not have legal representation provided as in a criminal matter! If just one defaults, the system will entrap the rest of the youth population for ever. Conveniently the ACLU and LCCR will not represent theses people while filing a Amicus Brief yet venturing into the community with white liberal organizers that will benefit from the demise of the youth punished by the injunction to advocate and per-sell it’s inevitability and lobby for it’s acceptance as a needed measure to fight crime. Forget about the “double jeparody” that these Black youth face in a civil//criminal legal web cast by a crooked City Attorney whom has fabricated and planted that fabricated evidence in a case file, gave the case file to the defendants for nearly a year, and gave the case file to a judge for trial without notifying the court! See more on the City Attorney below.
I have mobilizing attorney’s, including George Holland to represent these poor, under served youth and secured ALL-Americans, All-Pro, NBA World Champions, North Oakland residents, Oakland Tech High School and U. C. Berkeley classmates Marshawn Lynch and Leon Powe along with several native Oakland celebrities to join national celebrities in this fight! We will provide the much needed alternatives to these profiled youth to succeed in life and not be eliminated from it because some developers want their families property and them out the neighborhood. WE MUST ACT NOW to end this travesty ASAP!
In the message below, the ACLU told the District Attorney’s brother Ivan Golde that everything was “in order” and he was not needed. Ivan wants to offer his services to the kids that need attorney’s and I was told by the ACLU to refer those who wanted help and to help to refer them to the ACLU. Who’s representing the kids charged in the Gang Injunction?Jalil——– Original Message ——–
1 Jalil, The ACLU called me and said everything was in order legally and that they did not need me to represent anyone. Let me know what is happening. take care, Ivan

Maxine Waters, a debt relief champion and driving force for legislative solutions; former Senate Majority Leader Dr. Bill Frist, a trained surgeon just returned from operating in a Haitian field hospital; Dr. Joia Mukherjee, medical director for Partners in Health, who is in Haiti right now; and David Meltzer, senior vice president for International Services for the American Red Cross, also just back from Haiti.
RSVP now with your phone number and we’ll call you Tuesday at 8:00 PM—no phone number to remember!
WHO: You, lots of other ONE members, Rep. Maxine Waters, former Senate Majority Leader Dr. Bill Frist, Dr. Joia Mukherjee from Partners in Health, David Meltzer from the Red Cross, and ONE’s President David Lane
WHAT: An interactive conference call on Haiti: Crisis, Rebuilding, and Debt Cancellation
WHEN: Tuesday, January 26 at 8:00 PM (EST)
The massive response to our “Drop Haiti’s Debt” campaign is already having an impact, with movement from both the IMF and World Bank to find ways to cancel Haiti’s debts. Efforts in both the House of Representatives and Senate to tackle this issue are promising, as well. But we need to keep the pressure up, and learn more about how we can help the Haitian people during this time of crisis and beyond.
Space is limited, so please RSVP for this special call now:
On the call, experts and observers will share their responses to the aftermath of last week’s earthquake. They’ll also take your questions, discuss the latest news on our “Drop Haiti’s Debt” campaign, and talk about the broader development picture and what more we can do to help the Haitian people rebuild and advance in the long-term.
It couldn’t be easier to participate in the call—you don’t even have to remember to dial in. RSVP now and we’ll call you on Tuesday night:
In the wake of devastation comes the opportunity to rebuild, develop and strengthen. Don’t miss your opportunity to learn the facts, help us plan the future, and hear first-hand accounts of what’s going on in Haiti. Thanks,
Peace
